Probates in San Diego County
With a population of around 3.2 million, many San Diego County residents may be without an estate plan, potentially leaving their assets subject to probate. Harbor’s dedicated probate services are here to guide San Diego County families through these complex legal processes with care and expertise.
Unique Considerations
Single Probate Branch
San Diego County centralizes all probate matters within one branch, with currently three dedicated probate judges, and a fourth one available for support, streamlining the process for residents.
Remote Appearances
Similar to other California Counties, if a person intends to appear remotely for any probate proceedings, that person must file an "Intent to Appear Remotely" form in advance.
Accounting Rules (Local Rule 4.15.2)
•
All financial accounts must be verified by original bank or financial statements as of the closing date of the accounting.
•
If statements are received electronically, petitioners must verify that these records are unaltered. SDSC Forms #PR-121 or #121C may be used to ensure compliance.
•
It’s crucial to clearly highlight the appropriate balance on these statements, and any discrepancies in the accounting must be reconciled with the provided letters or statements.
